Ending Support for Older Smart-ID Apps

From January 2025 Smart-ID app versions older than 27.1 will not be supported anymore and users must update their apps to the newest version. Updating the app is necessary for security reasons and for providing excellent user experience.

What does this mean for you?

Please note that in November 2024, the release of the new Smart-ID app version 27.1 began. For most users, the Smart-ID app is automatically updating when new version becomes available. For those users whose app does not update automatically, manual updating to the new version is necessary to ensure an uninterrupted experience. In December 2024, we will stop supporting older versions, and by latest December 31, 2024, any outdated Smart-ID apps will become unusable. Make sure to update before the year ends to keep your access active.

During December 2024 users with older Smart-ID app will receive push notification to Smart-ID app in order to remind need of app update.

If you can update your phone or tablet to newer OS (at least Android 6 and iOS 13) to meet the new minimum requirements, we urge you to update your operating system as soon as possible. However, if your device is too old to update, it is time to consider switching to a newer and more secure phone to continue enjoying the benefits provided by Smart-ID.

Limiting the usage of older versions is part of Smart-ID life cycle. This is necessary to ensure that our services’ security and integrity is maintained. We will always try to keep supporting as many Android and Apple iOS devices as possible, but with older devices there are limits which force us to discontinue supporting them.
