ID-card
If you have an ID-card and know how to use it electronically, you’re set to go.
Mobile-ID
If you have mobile-ID, you can use it to authenticate Smart-ID accounts on the same device as your mobile-ID SIM-card.
Mobile-ID accounts that were activated on or AFTER 02.07.2022 cannot be used to register new Smart-ID accounts. Please choose another authentication method.
Biometric identification
Biometric identification suits you the best if you can’t use other electronic registration methods, but have a passport or ID-card with an electronic chip and a mobile phone with NFC-support. During biometric registration you’ll scan your own documents and take your selfie at the comforts of your home, without having to visit a bank office.
Bank link
If you can’t use an any other registration method and want to access only your bank account, you can register a Smart-ID Basic account (available in Latvia and Lithuania, but NOT Estonia).
NB! Smart-ID Basic can only be used for online banking, you won’t be able to access other e-services or digitally sign documents with it! Read about the differences between Smart-ID Basic and Smart-ID accounts.
Visiting a bank office
Are you unable to register an account using any online methods? Then take your mobile phone and identification documents with you the next time you visit your bank office and ask the bank teller to help set up an account for you.
