Error messages

The error codes you may encounter during biometric identification have been arranged in alphabetical order.

If you are convinced that you’ve done everything correctly and you still see the same error message, get in touch with our customer service: you can complete the whole registration process with the assistance of our specialists.

 

DOCUMENT_NOT_VALID

Error: The document is faulty and cannot be used for biometric identification. Please turn to the document issuer if further details are required.
How to fix it: You cannot. Lithuanian documents (ID-cards and passports) issued before June 2011 cannot be used for biometric registration. Use a newer document or request a new ID-card/passport to be issued.

 

DOCUMENT_ALREADY_EXPIRED 

Error: Your document has expired
How to fix: Check the expiration date of your document, perhaps you need to renew it?

 

DOCUMENT_FAILED_IDENTIFICATION_LIMIT_REACHED 

Error: After several failed attempts your document has been permanently locked and can no longer be used for registering a Smart-ID account using the biometric identification method.
How to fix: When our system has a reason to suspect that your data might be at risk, we’ll lock the document you were using for biometric registration. Read more about document locks.

 

DOCUMENT_NOT_USABLE 

Error: Your document been cancelled (or it has expired)
How to fix: Check the validity of your document.

 

DOCUMENT_PERSON_MISMATCH 

Error: The document certificates do not match your data
How to fix: This happens when the data used for your account does not match the information in the national population registry used for electronic identification, or our system was unable to complete the confirmation. Please check and, if necessary, correct the data in national population register or contact their customer service for help.

 

INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR 

Error: Technical error.
How to fix: Please wait a while and try again: it might be a temporary network error.

 

INVALID_CHECK_DIGIT

Error: MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) was scanned incorrectly. The most likely cause is that the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) failed to read one or more of the characters.
How to fix it: Make sure that the document you’re scanning is stable, does not have a reflection or dirt on it and it’s positioned parallel to the camera and then try again.

 

INVALID_COUNTRY_CODE 

Error: Wrong country code.
How to fix: You can only use documents issued in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for biometric identification. Use other registration methods if necessary.

 

INVALID_DOCUMENT_TYPE 

Error: Wrong document type was chosen
How to fix: The document you’re trying to use does not match the requirements for biometric identification (for example it doesn’t have an electronic chip).

 

INVALID_NFC_DATA 

Error: Error in NFC-scanning
How to fix: Your document could not be successfully scanned. Please read our tips for biometric registration and try again.

 

INVALID_PASSWORD 

Error: Wrong code used
How to fix: You made a mistake typing in the registration code. Please check and try again.

 

INVALID_REQUEST 

Error: Error reading the data
How to fix: Most likely a technical error: please wait a while and then try again.

 

MISSING_ACCOUNT 

Error: Your account was not found
How to fix: Our system was unable to locate your previous/old Smart-ID account data. Biometric identification is only a suitable registration method for users who have had an active Smart-ID account in the past.

 

NFC_DATA_MISMATCH 

Error: Error reading the document chip.
How to fix: Reading of your biometric chip failed. Please make sure you’re scanning your document correctly and try again.

 

PERSON_NOT_ADULT 

Error: The user is a minor
How to fix: Biometric identification can only be used for adults. Please choose a different registration method for minors.

 

PERSON_NOT_FOUND_IN_PINS 

Error: Your account was not found
How to fix: Our system was unable to locate your previous/old Smart-ID account data. Biometric identification is only a suitable registration method for users who have had an active Smart-ID account in the past.

 

REGISTRY_PERSON_GIVENNAME_MISMATCH 

Error: Error checking your first name
How to fix: The name you used for your account does not match the data in the national population register. Please check again and if necessary, contact national population registry to correct your information!

 

REGISTRY_PERSON_SURNAME_MISMATCH 

Error: Error checking your last name
How to fix: The name you used for your account does not match the data in the national population register. Please check again and if necessary, contact national population registry to correct your information!

 

SESSION_EXPIRED 

Error: Session expired.
How to fix: Sessions usually expire for two reasons. Either your internet connection is patchy or you’ve taken too long completing the registration process (for example you were trying to multitask). Make sure you have all necessary items within your reach, read through the instructions and try again.

 

SESSION_MISSING 

Error: No session info
How to fix: It might be a temporary technical error. Please try again.

 

SESSION_STATUS_INVALID 

Error: No session info.
How to fix: It might be a temporary technical error. Please try again.
